In this talk, I will discuss possible and fruitful topics for further research in the area of Ranking and Selection Methodology. Some problems presently under investigation will also be discussed.
Professor Panchapakesan received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in the early 1970s. He is a renowned expert in the area of Ranking and Selection Methodology. In addition to writing numerous papers in this important area of Statistics, he has also coauthored a classic book on this topic (jointly with Professor Shanti Gupta) published by John Wiley & Sons in 1979. He retired recently after having been on the faculty of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Over the years, he has served in the Editorial Board of many journals including Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, Communications in Statistics and American Journal of Mathematical and Management Sciences.
