Date :Wednesday November 14, 2001.
Time : 3:30pm
Address Burke Science Building
Room: 138
TITLE:
Precedence Test and Some Nonparametric Alternatives
ABSTRACT:
In this talk, I will first introduce the precedence test as was originally proposed by Nelson (1963, Technometrics). I will then discuss an alternative called as "maximal precedence test" and discuss their relative merits and also present their null distributions, exact power under Lehmann alternative as well as simulated power under location-shift alternative. Next, I will propose Wilcoxon-type rank-sum precedence tests and discuss their null distribution and power and make a comparison of their power properties with those of precedence and maximal precedence tests. Finally, I will give some illustrative examples. This work has been done collaboratively with R. Frattina and H.K.T. Ng.
